Designing the Largest Family History Conference in the World.

Since 2014, RUMOR has been the creative, branding, and marketing partner of RootsTech—the worlds largest family history/genealogy conference presented by FamilySearch. RootsTech 2023 marked the first in-person event after a two year hiatus in favor of a virtual-only conferences because of the pandemic. RootsTech 2023 was also the first ever global RootsTech event with an in-person and virtual audience, reaching millions of people in over 40 countries and presented in 11 languages.

This massive undertaking required a fresh look and a bright new international post-pandemic vibe. RUMOR proposed the initial concept for the RootsTech 2023 theme of “UNITING”, to tie into one of FamilySearch’s core missions to provide services and experiences that unite families for eternity. And worked with language consultants in local homelands to ensure that the theme would translate effectively in content and context.

The UNITING theme led to a visual system over intersecting/converging circles and colors that carried through the entire conference in all marketing materials and graphic styles. It was a well needed and timely message for the first event post-pandemic, while layering the message of a hybrid virtual and in-person experience.

RUMOR created all branding, graphic styles, theme development, motion graphics, video promotion, social media content creation and channel management and moderation, print graphics, paid digital media, (social and search), email design and development, supporting graphics for the streaming and broadcast events around the world in 11 languages, and all environmental graphics for the in-person conference at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City, Utah. We work seamlessly with FamilySearch and RootsTech and teams to ensure that every potential audience (including youth and young adults) are included in messaging and marketing efforts for the virtual and in person events.

SERVICES PROVIDED

  • Full new conference brand build out with color styles and brand elements and assets.
  • Creation of all branding, graphic styles, theme development, motion graphics, video promotion, social media content creation and channel management and moderation, print graphics, paid digital media, (social and search), email design and development, supporting graphics for the streaming and broadcast events around the world in 11 languages
  • Design of over 200 unique event assets and all environmental graphics for the in-person conference at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City, Utah. This included signs, banners, attendee badges, way-finding, directories, photo-booths, props, presentation opening and closing animations, t-shirt designs, handouts, conference maps, and much more.
  • Production management on all assets and elements listed above.
  • Placement and install coordination on site.
  • Creative and production of all assets for TV, radio, print, outdoor, paid digital, social media and experiential campaigns.
